Return to Monkey Island for PlayStation 5 Review

Monkey Island was a popular video game franchise in the 90s. It gained a cult following due to its clever writing and memorable characters. Monkey Island is back for PlayStation 5, 20 years after its last installment. As a long-time fan of the series I was thrilled to test out this new installment. Here’s my review of Return to Monkey Island.

Graphics and Sound

Return to Monkey Island’s beauty was the first thing that struck me. The graphics are vibrant, colorful, and detailed. There are beautiful environments and characters with lots of personality. The game takes place several years after the events in the previous game and features Guybrush Threepwood (as well as other familiar faces) returning to the series. Return to Monkey Island’s gameplay is a classic point-and click adventure game. Guybrush controls Guybrush and he explores different locations, talks to characters, solves puzzles, and so on. The puzzles are well-designed and offer a variety of difficulty levels to keep both novice and advanced players interested.

Return to Monkey Island is a great example of the replay value that the Monkey Island series has been known for. There are many paths to choose from, with different dialogue options and puzzle solutions. This encourages multiple playthroughs to get the full experience.
